France’s A.A.Y.M. adds a second Grove crane to fleet
- The family-owned lifting and handling company purchased its first Grove crane, a GMK6300L-1, in 2021.
- Now it has added a second, a GMK5150XL, following many positive experiences with the GMK6300L-1.
- The new crane got right to work at a local factory, supplying materials for work on the facility’s rooftop.
Family-run heavy lifting and handling company A.A.Y.M. has received its second Grove all-terrain crane, a 150 t capacity Grove GMK5150XL. The Lamballe, France-based company bought the GMK5150XL to serve a variety of applications including construction, shipyard work, and industrial maintenance.
Its first job was supplying materials for work on a local factory rooftop, where it was configured with its maximum 68.7 m boom and full counterweight of 44.5 t. The company previously handled a similar job at the same location and sent its GMK6300L-1. So, having the GMK5150XL in the fleet has freed up the 300 t capacity GMK6300L-1 to work on bigger tasks.
“We really appreciate our newest Grove model for its innovative features and high-quality detailing. It’s got a long boom for a five-axle crane, strong load charts, great taxi capabilities, and maneuverability on narrow jobsites. We equipped the crane with several optional extras, including the MAXbase™ variable outrigger positioning system, a wireless remote control, and a birds-eye view camera. It’s a very impressive crane,” said Yvan Martin, company manager at A.A.Y.M.
The GMK5150XL features a 7-section, MEGAFORM® boom with class-leading strength. Its load charts in taxi configuration are best-in-class, ensuring easy roadability and transport savings for owners. Taxi configurations start from just 1 t of counterweight and for configurations of 12 t per axle, the GMK5150XL can carry up to 10.2 t of counterweight. There is also a heavyweight counterweight configuration of 16.5 t per axle, which makes it possible to drive the crane with an outstanding 30.9 t of counterweight on board.
A.A.Y.M. was formed in 2001 by Yvan Martin. The company manages efficient heavy lifting and handling missions throughout its local region.
