Grove GMK5250L-1 all-terrain crane installs the Vatican’s Christmas tree

• A Grove GMK5250L-1 all-terrain crane has installed an 8 t, 28 m tall spruce in Vatican City’s famous St. Peter’s Square in preparation for Christmas.
• This prestigious task was carried out by Italian Manitowoc customer I.B.A. Crane, which owns more than 100 units of construction machinery and equipment, including 10 mobile cranes from Grove.
• The efficiency of the Grove GMK5250L-1 enabled I.B.A. Crane to accurately lift and position the Christmas tree with minimal disruption to the public.

Manitowoc appoints ANK Cranes as new Grove dealer and service supplier in Norway and Sweden

• Effective December 1, ANK Cranes will replace UN Mobilkraner as the authorized dealer and service supplier for Grove mobile cranes in Norway and Sweden.
• UN Mobilkraner, meanwhile, will continue its many years of reliable, quality support for customers in Denmark, the Faroe Islands and Greenland.

Chilean company Corssen relies exclusively on Grove for challenging high-elevation jobs

• The 35-year-old crane company is not afraid of taking its Grove cranes to work in altitudes as high as 15,000 ft (4,500 m).
• Corssen’s GRT8100 and GMK5250L are two of the company’s busiest cranes, and they work primarily in the mining and energy sectors.

Potain MCT 88 and MDT 189 cranes construct Maximall Pompeii tourist hub in Italy

• Italian real estate developer Gruppo Irgenre has deployed five Potain MCT 88 topless city cranes and two Potain MDT 189 top-slewing tower cranes to construct the new 200,000 m2 Maximall retail and leisure complex close to the archaeological site of Pompeii in Italy.
• The MCT 88 cranes are assembled at heights between 21 and 31.5 m with a 52 m boom and a variable capacity of 5 t near the mast and 1.1 t at the tip; both MDT 189 cranes are 40 m high with a 60 m boom and maximum capacity of 8 t near the mast and 1.8 t at the tip.

Riviera Montage uses six Potain tower cranes for the construction of housing, offices and shops close to the new IKEA in Nice, France

• French rental company Riviera Montage has leased six Potain tower cranes to contractor Da Mota Construction for a mixed-use complex in Nice, including residential units, offices and other retail space.
• Riviera Montage and Da Mota construction chose three Potain MDT 219s, one MDT 269 and two MDT 319 cranes for this project due to their reliability, easy assembly and efficient operation, which will help the work remain on schedule.
• The cranes, which have a maximum capacity of 10 and 12 t, were installed in Spring 2021 and will remain on site until Summer 2022.

Spira erects 25 t capacity Potain MDT 569 tower crane in just two days for KIT lab construction project

  • German construction equipment rental company Spira Baugeräte und Schalungslogistik has deployed its new Potain MDT 569 tower crane at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, where it will handle large, prefabricated elements for the construction of two new laboratory buildings over the course of 17 months. 
  • The customer required a crane to lift 15 t at 35 m and 8 t at 60 m, which made the MDT 569, with its 25 t maximum capacity and 80 m jib, ideally suited for the job.
  • The ease of transport and assembly gave Spira the trust and confidence in the Potain MDT 569

Upwardly mobile: becoming a crane operator has never been such a rewarding career option

• Latest U.S. figures on crane operator salaries show a national annual wage of $64,000, while the top 10% can earn over $117,000/year. The most lucrative states to work in are evenly distributed across the country and employment opportunities are increasing rapidly.
• 79 percent of the students enrolled in operating courses at Heavy Equipment Colleges of America are of the millennial generation or younger, bringing a host of transferrable skills with them as they build a new career in crane operation.

NessCampbell’s first Grove GMK5250XL-1 hits the ground running in Oregon

• The company’s new 300 USt all-terrain crane is the first of its kind to arrive in the Northwest.  
• The GMK5250XL-1 has the longest boom in its class, which combined with a maximum capacity of 300 Ust, adds to NessCampbell’s already capable fleet of all-terrain cranes. 
• The crane has successfully completed a handful of jobs around Portland within the first few weeks of delivery.
