Manitowoc has celebrated the delivery of its first two Potain cranes to PT Indonesia Pondasi Raya (known locally as PT Indopora) one of which is a Hup 32-27 self-erecting crane the first in Indonesia. Both the Hup and the MC 310 K12 top-slewing crane join PT Indopura’s fleet of 100-plus cranes the majority of which are crawler and mobile units.

The first Grove GRT8100 manufactured outside the USA has left the production line in Niella Tanaro Italy. Until now the production of this crane model was exclusive to Manitowoc’s factory in Shady Grove Pennsylvania USA.

Australian company Mosaic Construction received a new Potain Hup 32-27 self-erecting crane and immediately sent it to a new residential development named Cyan in Caloundra Queensland. With a view over Kings Beach and the Pacific Ocean the new development has 31 apartments including two penthouses. Construction completed in June 2018.

Italian contractor Officine Dandrea (Dandrea) has purchased four brand-new Grove RT550E rough-terrain cranes. Dandrea chose the RT550E due to its compact design maneuverability and superior lifting performance at height.

The Port of Brisbane’s Port Drive Upgrade Project called in lifting specialist Universal Cranes to handle the placement of 17 girders for the duplication of Lucinda Drive Bridge on Fisherman Island Queensland Australia.

Crainco Crane Service (Crainco) is getting more work done than ever with one of National Crane’s latest offerings: the NTC55 truck-mounted crane. Launched in March of 2017 the 55 USt NTC55 is an evolved truck crane “replacement” that can maneuver into the tight working quarters typically reserved for a truck crane but with the added features of a boom truck to increase versatility on the job site.

Manitowoc has opened a new Potain tower crane factory in the Indian city of Chakan which lies outside Pune with production beginning in first-quarter 2018. This facility replaces the company’s previous factory in Pune which opened back in 2007. With a smaller land area as well as new equipment and lean processes the new facility produces Potain MCT 85 and MC 125 cranes more efficiently and with even greater quality.

Two new Potain MDT 259 J12 CCS tower cranes are helping construct a 102 000 m2 residential complex in Abu Dhabi UAE. The Masdar Institute Neighborhood project is being developed by Abu Dhabi Future Energy Co. (Masdar) and Mubadala Development Co.

Indian contractor Bridge and Roof chose a Potain MC 205 B tower crane to handle lifting work on the refurbishment of the 107-year-old overhead Tallah water tank in Kolkata. The Tallah tank stands up to 33 m tall in parts with an area coverage of 30 m2 and it can hold up to 180 million liters of water. With the MC 205 B’s proven performance the company knew it had the right tool for the job.

Manitowoc has reorganized its tower crane structure for Europe and Africa so that self-erecting tower cranes (GMA cranes) and top-slewing cranes (GME cranes) are being run independently in terms of production and product management.

Four Potain tower cranes are helping to build the iconic new Statue of Unity in India a monument dedicated to Sardar Vallabhabhai Patel the country’s first deputy prime minister and a prominent leader during the independence movement. Once complete the 182 m statue will be one of the tallest in the world.
