Manitowoc expands crane technician training in Mexico

As part of continuous efforts to increase customer satisfaction in Mexico and countries in the Central America and Caribbean regions Manitowoc Cranes has expanded its crane technician-training program.

The latest training session to be developed — on National Crane boom trucks features and systems — just saw its first batch of trainees become Manitowoc Crane Care-certified service technicians. The training was held at Manitowoc dealer AMECO’s facilities in Mexico City with 12 graduates completing the courses. Several of those same trainees have also started similar courses for Grove mobile cranes.

“The bottom line is that our Crane Care training program ensures customers get the highest return possible on their crane investment ” said Cuauhtemoc Flores Manitowoc Crane Care’s director of customer service for the MCAC regions.

Over the course of two weeks classes involved hands-on sessions that used several National Crane units including the 900H an NBT30H and an NBT50; and two Grove rough-terrain cranes: an RT530E-2 and an RT650E.

Carlos Eduardo Batista training manager at Manitowoc Brazil led the sessions and said that customers are the ultimate beneficiaries of this training as part of the after-sales support package Manitowoc Crane Care offers.

“Our customers gain when their cranes are properly maintained and ready to take on a new job on short notice ” he said. “These certified technicians also ensure work is resumed quickly if there’s an issue on the job site. We know how expensive it is to have work paused on a job site as cranes are so crucial on a project.”

AMECO runs a global operation from its headquarters in Greenville South Carolina U.S. with outposts in Mexico Dominican Republic Jamaica Chile Colombia and Peru among other countries. The company is a Grove and National Crane distributor in Mexico and operates out of its main offices in Tlalnepantla on the outskirts of Mexico City.
