  • Manitowoc will showcase one of its most popular Potain self-erecting tower cranes, the Hup M 28-22 A, at bauma 2025.
  • This model has the most compact transport dimensions in its class, allowing it to travel with a standard truck and easily pass under bridges.

Manitowoc is showing its best-selling Potain Hup M 28-22 A self-erecting tower crane at bauma 2025 in Munich, Germany. Since its launch in early 2020, this model has quickly become a customer favorite across Europe.

The high-performance Hup M 28-22 A combines impressive lifting capacity and transport convenience. It can lift up to 2.2 t and handle up to 850 kg at its jib end. It’s the only self-erecting crane with a 28 m jib capable of achieving hook heights from 19.6 m to 31.1 m with such a compact transport format. With travel-ready dimensions of just 11.6 m in length and 3.6 m in height, it can be transported by a standard truck and easily pass under bridges.

“Our Potain Hup M 28-22 A is known for its versatility and reliable performance,” said Rémi Deporte, product manager for self-erecting cranes at Manitowoc. “It’s an advanced, reliable, and versatile jobsite tool and has helped countless customers throughout Europe and the rest of the world complete their projects with maximum efficiency. Owners and users love it for its efficient transport, quick setup, and flexible configuration options, making it a go-to crane for all types of projects.”

The crane’s permanently attached steel ballast allows it to be transported as a trailer or semi-trailer. A TÜV-certified integrated transport axle enables road travel speeds of up to 80 km/h, and a +20°/-20° maximum steering radius provides access to even the most restricted jobsites. The crane also features the Potain CONNECT™ telematics system, which provides remote diagnostics, advanced analytics, and fleet management information to maximize uptime and optimize crane utilization.

Additionally, Potain’s Smart Set-up and the Hup series’ ergonomic remote-control software make the crane easy to erect and dismantle. Innovative mechanisms on the crane include DVF Optima for trolleying, LVF Optima for lifting, and HPS for slewing, ensuring maximum comfort and precision during operation.
